For forty-seven years now the sound of music, laughter, impressive words, dancing and fiery acting can be heard in the open spaces of this city. The city has turned its old open and closed historical settings into unique stages.
The performances are given on 33 open air stages in the city, in the original environment, in the places where the great men-of-letters and musicians of the past and present Dubrovnik used to create their great masterpieces.
The closed settings of palaces, churches and monasteries have also been turned into highly acoustic halls for concert performances.
Every year, July 10, there is the memorable sight of the opening ceremony of the Festival, when all the tourists and the city itself participate, singing and dancing, because no one would want to miss this unique night.
The programme of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival lasts from July 10 to August 25 every year, with one or more various performances a day.
There are performances of highly valuable pieces of art, home and foreign, and the participants are the best ensembles and individual artists from Croatia and abroad.
